This is what we do.
Every fall the SME Tucson Section asks the mining community to donate money for scholarships for students in UA Mining and Geological Engineering. Last year, your generosity resulted in $15,000 in scholarships.
Industry support needed now more than ever.
 The students need our support now more than ever. Cuts in state spending on education, cuts in financial aid, and increases in tuition all add up to make college more expensive. Starting this fall, undergraduate tuition alone will increase to almost $10,000 a year for residents and $26,000 a year for non-residents. Add books, room and board, transportation or other necessary expenses, and costs can nearly double.

 Below are the 2011 donation packages and sponsorship benefits. Thank you for your generous support again this year!

Sponsor Packages
There are 4 donation packages this year: Platinum, Gold, Silver, and Copper.
1. Platinum: $3,000 Donation
Benefits:
A. 8 dinner tickets to Oct. 22 event
B. Named scholarships for the 2011-2012 year
C. Included in local news release
D. Logo on monthly dinner meeting banner
E. Logo and link on Tucson SME website
F.  Logo and link in event emails

  2. Gold: $2,000 Donation

If these packages do not fit your needs, you are encouraged to make a donation in the amount that fits your budget.  Individual contributors will be recognized at the October 22 fundraiser event.

Description of Benefits
 A. Dinner tickets to October 22 event:
The designated number of tickets are provided to the fundraiser event.  Tickets may be donated to students.

B. Named scholarship for the 2011-2012 year:
A scholarship awarded in the 2011-2012 school year will be named after the sponsor.

C. Local news release:
Sponsor's name and level will be included in a news release to local print media and SME after the October 22 event.

D. Recognition at regular dinner meetings throughout the year:
Sponsor's logo and level will be printed on a banner stand graphic used at regular monthly dinner meetings from Nov. 2011 through Sept. 2012.

E. Recognition and link on Tucson SME website:
The sponsor's logo or company name as indicated with link to website will be posted on the Scholarship and Sponsor pages of the SME Tucson website through the 2011-2012 year.

F.  Recognition and link in event emails:
 The sponsor's logo or company name as indicated with link to website will be included in all emails promoting the October 22 event.

 G. Recognition at event:
 The sponsor's logo or company name as indicated will be included on signage at the October 22 event.
